A night after pulling off a monumental semifinal upset with one of the greatest buzzer-beaters in state tournament history, South Medford came up just short of a Class 6A title on Saturday.

With the Panthers in foul trouble and appearing to run out of gas, West Linn took over the lead with a 12-0 run and won the state girls’ basketball crown 61-56 at the Chiles Center in Portland.
