It’s a week until Cinco de Mayo, which has become a celebration of Mexican culture in the United States.

The day marks a victory by Mexican forces over the French in 1862. The countries were arguing over some loan repayments when France took steps to invade the country to make it part of the empire. The French outnumbered the Mexican force two to one, but the locals sent the professional soldiers packing at Puebla, Mexico.
