First car was the 1955 Chevy Bel Air, V8, convertible, purchased in 1962 for a mere $650. Purchased it in South Gate, Calif. Saved money from my first full-time employment where I made $285 a month working SIX days a week. (You don't even want to figure out that hourly wage!) I was 22 years old in the picture, but I purchased the car when I was 19.
