Grants Pass High School senior Zeke Medley, center, leads classmates during this morning’s walkout by about 300 students, who circled the campus for 17 minutes, chanting “Enough is enough,” “Books not Guns” and other messages protesting gun violence. A dozen police attended the event, which modeled others around the country at 10 a.m. The 17 minutes represented all the victims at the Parkland, Florida, high school mass shooting one month ago. A small group of counter demonstrators, one wrapped in a Confederate battle flag, were kept apart from the rally. For full coverage, see Thursday’s Daily Courier.
