My father bought our family car, a 1934 Ford Sedan in 1939. I still have the sales contract. My family made several trips to Missouri before World War II was over. My father was drafted in 1945 just as the war was ending. My mother didn't drive, so I got my license at 12 years old, the last year before the age limit changed in California. My dad sold me the old Ford and I drove it through four years of high school, then sold it for $50. I found the car in 2010... a basket case! I restored the car and we are both going strong at 83 years of age.
