Waters Creek Trail (near Wilderville, Ore.)

Rating (Out of 5): 3.0

Location: Near Grants Pass, Ore.

Distance: .5 miles/3 miles round-trip

Difficulty: easy/moderate

Camping: No

Quick hit: Waters Creek Trails run through a sweet-smelling forest of sugar pine, Douglas fir, white oak and alder, just to name a few. There are two loop trails. The first one is an interpretative loop - there are signs along the way - that crosses a pair of bridges across the creek and lasts about one mile. The longer loop (which is branches off from the shorter loop) heads out into the deeper forest, following the creek and the small valley carved out by the creek.

Directions: From Grants Pass, drive south on Redwood Highway 199 for 14.4 miles, across the bridge above Applegate River, to Waters Creek Road (there are signs on the side of the road before the turn). Turn right and follow the road 2.5 miles to the trailhead. There is a parking lot on the left side of the road.
