Restraining order extension sought in Grants Pass homeless lawsuit
Disability Rights Oregon has filed a request to extend a temporary restraining order that blocks Grants Pass from enforcing most of the city’s homeless camping regulations — but it does carve out new exceptions to allow enforcement against camping in Riverside Park and Reinhart Volunteer Park. Tents have popped up around town, especially on the west side of Riverside Park near Caveman Bridge, since the temporary restraining order went into effect earlier this month. The attorney handling the case for the city does not oppose the motion to extend the temporary restraining order by 10 days, Disability Rights Oregon said in a motion that was dated Friday. The written motion didn’t appear in court records until today, following the Presidents Day weekend that kept courts closed on Monday. For complete details, see Wednesday's Daily Courier. |
