Former North Medford standout Jaida Ross headed to Paris Olympics

Former North Medford standout Jaida Ross finished third Saturday night in the women’s shot put at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials to book a trip to the Paris Olympics.

Ross threw 64 feet, 4 3/4 inches on her second throw at Hayward Field in Eugene to earn the bronze medal Saturday.

World champion Chase Jackson won the Trials title at 65-11 1/2 and Raven Saunders finished second with a mark of 65-3 1/2 to make her third Olympics.
