Neighbors of an unsupervised homeless camping site on Sixth Street are bracing for more impacts from a planned expansion, while hoping for a light at the end of the tunnel in the form of a managed site with services somewhere else in Grants Pass.
Many homeless people are concentrated at the authorized camping site on Sixth Street near City Hall and another site a block away on Seventh Street near the Grants Pass Police Department. Read More »

Top-ranked Cascade Christian swept a District 7 baseball doubleheader from North Valley, winning the opener 7-4 before cruising 20-10 in the nightcap Friday in Merlin.
The Challengers (9-4, 2-1) got some measure of revenge, after the Knights took the series opener on Tuesday.
North Valley (6-7, 1-2) took advantage of some control problems from Cascade Christian pitcher Grady Sickler to take a 3-1 lead in the second inning of the first game.

An Ashland man accused of killing his partner and attacking their roommate and roommate's dog in 2021 was found guilty of murder except for insanity Friday.
Auriel Zaphir Scattergood, 33, was placed under the jurisdiction of the Psychiatric Security Review Board for life requiring commitment to the Oregon State Hospital in Salem.
The finding and the sentence were handed down by Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Laura Cromwell after a short stipulated-facts trial.
